I live on our family farm with my husband and 2 of our 3 children. Ten years ago we retired from dairy farming but always kept the horses we had for personal pleasure riding.
Growing up I was always involved with horses – either showing , pony club, western camp instructor, but I never really was aware of what drew me to these majestic ( and let’s be honest) sometimes trouble-making creatures. I just knew that no matter how hard my day had been or who said what to me, a few minutes walking around them, brushing them and being in their presence, my cares seemed less important. I knew in my heart that I wanted to share this experience with those who needed it. (That’s everyone ! )
In the span of a few years I was put in contact with a facilitator who works as a life coach using horses. From there I found a great, nationally recognized certification course at Dreamwinds EAL Centre (www.dreamwinds.ca) and became a certified EAL Facilitator with Cartier Farm & Dreamwinds EAL Centres.
Over the past several years I have worked with two organizations. One that deals with at risk youth in our community, and one that provides a residence for women coming out of sex trafficking, trauma and/or addiction. I have been able to use EAL to support these brave women regain a sense of worth, empowerment and confidence.
Here at Woodruff Farm, we offer a customized programs that helps develop transferable skills like communication, leadership development, and healthy boundaries.
